A kaleidoscope of life through the lens

Although my focus is primarily on professionals, I have photographed countless thousands of individuals, children and families from all walks of life’s journey. Explore below, “Moments through my lens”

I have worn so many hats as a photographer, connecting with tens of thousands of individuals over the course of my career. I strive to create memories that engage the human spirit. I consider it is a huge responsibility. I search for love, pride, joy, fun and human connection, and I realize more and more everyday, that each time I pick up a camera, and regardless of who it is, my responsibility is to capture images that tell the truth.

With respect to Anne Geddes this obvious copycat of a child in basket was a request from a mom. I am often asked if children are difficult to photograph, and my reply is that I approach babies as I did with my own child, with a smile in my eyes. I know that this is what they recognize and react to. In this case however, the camera led her to a great little snooze!

Tie down the furniture and tape down anything that moves! Here comes the toddlers! I have to be quick on the draw with my camera because this age group won’t stay still for long. But it is fun and I get to be goofy, because that’s what will get their attention, and its what gets the shots that reflect who they are!

Little Tykes! They have a mind of their own, that’s for sure, but they always allow me take their portrait, very briefly of course. The trick is to quickly navigate and keep them amused and engaged, until I find those unique shots.

Kids are clearly on a path that exhibit their own distinct direction and unique personality. Taking a portrait that captures each child for what makes them special, is made easy by communicating with them at their level.

Although their preferred communication sits not far from their lap, each teen that I have had the pleasure to photograph realizes that a professional portrait is a little different than a selfie. A photo session reflects their story, who they are in the moment, and the future direction that they are heading towards.

Photographing and posing kids and young adults with their siblings is always fun and unique. The photos are often playful and engaging, and capture their true spirit of their connection together. Each age group is different but all capture an essence of their close relationship.

As we go through life there are so many special moments and occasions that are true memories of ones own unique experiences that are cherished forever. Photographs capture those moments so well.

Family portraits serve so many purposes. They reflect a unity as no other portrait does. Portraits reveal each family member for how they really feel about each other. Their individual personalities shine, and deliver a moment in time. The portrait can be fun, casual or formal, or it can be close and loving. I create these images with a sense of pride, knowing full well that they will be viewed for decades to come.

Alan has been taking pictures of my family since 2010. He's always so pleasant and very professional. He's great with kids, always gets them laughing and smiling for amazing shots. Alan has helped me create so many wonderful memories over the past 7 years. Excellent photographer, I would give him ten stars if I could.
